Ramadan 2027 tableware: what retailers should stock, and when to order
Ramadan is one of the busiest tableware seasons in the UAE and across the Gulf. Families host iftars, buy serving pieces for guests and refresh their tables before Eid. For shops, the buying window opens before the month starts, so the stock has to be on the shelf early.
When Ramadan 2027 is expected
Based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on 8 February 2027 in the UAE, with Eid Al Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March 2027. The final dates depend on the official moon sighting.1
Working back from those dates, a practical plan for a shop looks like this:
- November to early December: review what sold last season and decide your Ramadan range.
- December: request quotations and confirm orders, leaving time to adjust designs and quantities.
- January: receive the stock, price it and build your displays.
- Late January to February: peak buying for serving pieces, as customers prepare for the first iftars.
Lead times depend on the items and quantities, so ask your supplier to confirm availability and delivery dates in the quotation rather than assuming them.
What customers buy for iftar and suhoor
Ramadan shopping is mostly about serving and hosting: pieces for the middle of the table and enough of them for more guests than usual.
- Serving trays in several sizes, for dates, sweets, tea and coffee
- Large oval and round platters for rice and main dishes
- Lidded bowls that keep food covered between the kitchen and the table
- Soup plates and bowls for lentil soup, harees and other soups
- Rice bowls and small bowls for salads, dips and sides
- Ladles and serving spoons
- Cups, mugs and tumblers for tea, coffee, water and juice
- Dinner sets for families refreshing their table before guests arrive and before Eid
Choosing materials for the season
Most shops do best with a mix of materials at different price points:
- Melamine trays, platters and bowls are light and come in many printed designs, which suits large family gatherings and serving in the majlis.
- Opalware plates, bowls and dinner sets cover everyday dining and gift-style sets.
- Stainless steel trays, serving bowls, tumblers and cutlery suit big gatherings and are a familiar choice for serving in many households.

Displays and pricing that move stock
- Build a Ramadan table display with a tray, platter, lidded bowl, soup plates and cups together. Customers often buy the whole look.
- Group serving trays by size so customers can compare them at a glance.
- Offer two or three price levels for the same item type, for example a plain tray and a printed tray.
- Keep back stock of your fastest sizes. Restocking can take longer during the season, when many shops are reordering at the same time.
- After Eid, keep everyday plates and bowls on the shelf and clear the seasonal designs.
